It's been a long time since you posted this but it's new to me so I'll respond. My favorite apple pie recipe has more to do with the crust than the insides. I like Gala apples combined with Granny Smiths. For a crust I use RLB's Cheddar Pie crust....

That all depends on what dessert is. If it's seriously chocolate and not too horribly rich, no sharing. Otherwise, I'll negotiate.

About dinner not being complete without dessert: my mom always served dessert after the evening meal. So, I always have dessert--it's like the epilogue to a great story. Or sometimes, it's the last, most wonderful act of the experience that is called dinner.

See if this floats your boat-

Cherry Dessert
(for 4 persons)
Ingredients:
***************
2 cups fresh cherries
3 tbsp. cherry brandy
6 tbsp. sugar
2 tbsp. water
12 lady's fingers (grapes)
1 cup cream cheese (softened to room temperature)
1/2 tsp. vanilla extract
1/4 cup ground almonds
1 cup cream
2 tbsp. chopped nuts for decoration (optional)

Cooking:
**************
Wash and drain cherries. Remove stones and reserve 8 whole cherries for decoration. Place cherries in a bowl, add cherry brandy. In a small pan boil 3 tbsp. sugar and the water for a minute to make a thin sugar syrup. Add syrup to the cherries and stir to blend. Cover and let soak for 20 minutes. Cut the grapes in halves, divide into 4 portions, and place in individual glass dishes. Arrange cherries on top. Thoroughly blend cream cheese, 3 tbsp. sugar, vanilla extract, and ground almonds. Whip the cream and carefully add it into the cream cheese mixture. Spoon over the cherries. Decorate with the chopped nuts and whole cherries.

Welcome to Dancing Spoon, I wanted to personally invite you to join our discussions in regards to cheeses at the Cheese Group on Dancing Spoon. Every week we introduce a new cheese and invite you to find it in your area, buy it, try it and then discuss it with us. Again welcome and take a look at all the groups here on Dancing Spoon.

The desserts Mom made, back in the 60s:
-Boston Cream Pie (Betty Crocker yellow cake mix, Jello vanilla pudding, and Jiffy chocolate frosting)
- Fruit Jello (grape, strawberry, cherry, or orange), cut into 1/2" cubes
- Jello chocolate pudding
- Junket (a bizarre sort of custard made with rennet--very strange texture, kind of slimy-icky)
- Tapioca pudding
- Bananas and sour cream, with a tablespoon of sugar
- Homemade blintzes
- Girl Scout Mint Cookie Pie

Edie,
Welcome to the table. How can a dinner be complete without dessert? You are going to share some dessert with us, aren't you?
